The Divine Commentary on The Book of Revelation - Ch 03 (24.12.10)

Rev 3:1 "And to the angel of the church in Sardis write, 'These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.

Divine Commentary –

“Many who claim to know Me,

who claim to be My brother,

who claim to be a son of God –

                                           many in deed are they,

many in deeds of glory they are not.

Even at this very hour are they alive to those with whom they mingle yet are dead to Me –

because their hearts do not confirm that of which their tongues gives birth.

Beware,

             O Goats,

                         within the flock.

Beware,

             O Tares,

                         within the wheat.

Beware,

             O You Non-penitent,

who do not recognize your failings before the footstool of The Lord.

Beware,

             O You Prideful,

who do not care to know the season of the age.”

Rev 3:2 "Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God.

Divine Commentary –

“The callowness of the youth of man will not serve well those who no longer claim to be the callow youths of God,

                         yet are.

For such as they are stunted as in a field parched through lack of rain,

                                                                               through failure to learn,

through failure to assimilate the truth,

                                                                               through failure to bear witness,

through failure of the tongue which still makes jokes of God,

through failure to recognize where lack of wisdom leads.

For such as they wear coats spotted as Dalmation dogs,

where the spots enlarge each day:

as the muck of life clings on,

                                                         attaches to,

                                                                      the slate;

as proclivity for growth is stalled in place –

as a stone under the foot.

Beware!

The camel of grace does not grant the rider immunity from sin.

For when the rider knows he is disqualified,

so must the camel be brought to kneel,

so must the rider then dismount,

so must the rider so kneel beside the camel,

so must the rider be cleansed so to continue with the race:

the race in which he is entered as an overcomer.”

Rev 3:3 "Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.

Divine Commentary –

“As John recalled the message of the vision,

             so it remains today,

so it has acquired relevancy of time:

             so the wise will heed,

             so the foolish will discard.”

Rev 3:4 "You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy.

Divine Commentary –

“Throughout the assemblies of The Lord,

             in this day,

             in this season,

do the words John spoke on My behalf ring out as from the bell of truth.”

Rev 3:5 "He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

Divine Commentary –

“The Book of Life holds the records of the flesh,

                                        the records of the soul,

the records of the spirit –

                                        the records of man –

resulting from the application of his own freewill while in mortality –

as the time of preparation for an onward journey.”

Rev 3:6 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."'

Rev 3:7 "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, 'These things says He who is holy, He who is true, "He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens":

Divine Commentary –

“The key of David holds the authority of the heavens over man,

for as the key is turned:

                         so a lock gives access,

so a lock does seal –

within the will of The Lord.

The attempts of man to loose and to bind with the Key of David is not supported by My word,

should indicate to man the power and mystery of God,

should indicate to man that doors may not be the totality of all that

the key causes to shut and to open.”

Rev 3:8 "I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.

Rev 3:9 "Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie – indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.

Divine Commentary –

“The liars of the earth have a place prepared which will not be to their liking.

The liars of the earth destroy the foundation of faith –

                                               the foundation of relationships –

                                                                                               to be built on truth.

The liars of the earth need to confess the lie –

to undo the damage wrought by their tongue of Satan –

                                                                  before repentance is complete,

                                                                  before the slate is cleared,

                                                                  before grace can be instilled.

For a lie can gather adherents as flypaper on a ceiling,

as a snowball on a slope,

                                                 as cobwebs in the fog.

For a lie destroys the truth of an assessment,

                             the truth of the unknown,

the truth of the answer to a question.

The liars of the earth carry iniquity of character into a heart rejoicing in deception:

where Satan spews the lies out from the lips designed for worship,

out from a tongue designed for praise,

out from a mouth of contamination.”

Rev 3:10 "Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

Rev 3:11 "Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.

Divine Commentary –

“The crown is reserved for the overcomer who keeps My works until the end,

who has bejewelled his gown of life,

who has acquired the testimonies –

of those he stopped to help upon the wayside of encounter –

                                                                             as prepared for My disciple,

who is the victor in the race –

lays his baton ready for inspection with its scroll complete.”

Rev 3:12 "He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.

Divine Commentary –

“The names are made known on the rock of revelation,

are written on the white stone –

                                                on the pillar of purity,

are destined for the memory of man to be uttered when a door is opened,

to bear witness of a claim of dwelling,

to give access through a cleft to all that lies beyond,

to welcome a kingdom citizen home to his new surroundings.”

Rev 3:13 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."'

Rev 3:14 "And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, 'These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God:

Rev 3:15 "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot.

Divine Commentary –

“As it is here so written,

               so My word forewarns,

so I do know of all the works of man,

               so will the repercussions be.”

Rev 3:16 "So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

Rev 3:17 "Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked—

Divine Commentary –

“So will paucity with nakedness receive their dues,

so will the blind of the spirit not see the flames which burn their stubble,

                                                                                                       their straw,

                                                                                                       their loads of hay,

as each is tested to so reveal the poverty of man.”

Rev 3:18 "I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.

Divine Commentary –

“The gold refined speaks of man when he did not forswear his trinkets,

                                                     when he did not discern,

                                                                    did not gather,

                                                                    did not see,

the stones of worth as settings fit for his gown of life.

As it is so written,

so I again so counsel man:

that man may address his station without delay –

                                                                                   while it is today,

                                                                so he is no longer wretched;

                                                                                                  miserable;

                                                                                                  poor;

                                                                                                  blind;

                                                                                                  naked:

so he may not end up in the midst of vomit,

                                                                                    with eyes that cannot see,

with no garment to clothe his shame.”

Rev 3:19 "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

Divine Commentary –

“The admonitions of The Lord should not lightly be dismissed,

should be examined with the intent found within a contrite heart,

should so convict the soul to correction when matters are not as they should be found.

For the convicted soul speaks well of the spirit,

                                    speaks well of the character,

speaks well of the future growth of man,

speaks well of all who would enter through the golden gate of repentance to the life beyond.”

Rev 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Divine Commentary –

“Then will he be recognized in the household of faith,

then will he be regarded as a friend of God,

then will I fill his cup to overflowing,

then will I lay the fare of his homecoming before him for selection.”

Rev 3:21 "To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

Divine Commentary –

“The sitting with Me on My throne is only for the crowned –

                                                                               as they have overcome.”

Rev 3:22 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."'"
