Rev 4:1 After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”
Divine Commentary –
“The door standing open in heaven is the portal which leaves the pain,
the portal of the third kingdom of the sorting,
the portal of the access to the fear of God,
the portal through which exists the way to the destiny of grace or to the destiny of allotment.
The door standing open is beyond the time to knock,
is beyond the time to seek,
is beyond the time to plead the mercy seat.
The door standing open is for all to pass through when the grave gives up its dead,
when they walk with certainty,
when they walk with trepidation.
The open door of heaven has a message of direction for the querulous of heart.
The first voice is as a fanfare in introducing –
in announcing –
in revealing –
in declaring:
for the discernment of disclosure.”
Rev 4:2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne.
Rev 4:3 And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald.
Divine Commentary –
“And He who sat there was translucent and with the staining from the cross;
and around the throne there was an encirclement of light,
with hue as in an emerald,
wherein seven bands were separated by intensity.”
Rev 4:4 Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads.
Divine Commentary –
“The twenty-four thrones for the seating of the elders indicate the progression of a three-fold depth of layering within a new beginning.
The elders are called to service in the throne room according to the standards of The King,
are called to service until released,
are called to service with rotation,
from within the throng of David.”
Rev 4:5 And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
Divine Commentary –
“The description of the seated throne of God:
as being the source of emanation of all power,
all authority.
The voices utter,
transmit,
convey,
the tongues of The Spirit –
as the seven lamps flame before the throne.”
Rev 4:6 Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back.
Divine Commentary –
“Access to the throne requires wisdom in the gaining,
requires wisdom in selection,
requires wisdom in acquiring that which appears before the eyes,
requires wisdom in discerning that which inclines the ears,
requires wisdom in perceiving when the senses dwell on what was,
when the senses dwell on what is,
when the senses dwell on what is about to be.
Behold the vision of the throne room which haunts the fears of man.
Behold the vision of the throne room which yields to the fear of God.
Beware the vision of the throne room when keyed to the time of man.”
Rev 4:7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle.
Divine Commentary –
“These descriptions are based on comparisons of familiarity.
The sentinels of God are not mis-led,
are not mis-placed,
are not mistaken.
The sentinels of God are not mis-directed,
are not mis-quoted,
are not mis-described.
The sentinels of God are not fully delineated:
as to their flight,
as to their functions,
as to their abilities of posture,
of speech,
of overcoming,
of worship,
of praise,
of exaltation,
of obedience.
The sentinels of God are not composites in appearance,
are not composites in being,
are not composites in abilities.”
Rev 4:8 The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: "Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!"
Divine Commentary –
“The sentinels of God are about to change their refrain:
for The Son rises over the earth and has come to take His kingdom.”
Rev 4:9 Whenever the living creatures give glory and honour and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever,
Rev 4:10 the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
Rev 4:11 "You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honour and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created."
Divine Commentary –
“The Sentinels of God know the tribute of regality,
of tribute in its fullness,
of tribute due the throne of God:
of tribute due the throne of David –
to Him who holds upright The Bride of The Lamb,
who holds eternally The Sceptre of The Cross.”
