The Divine Commentary on The Book of Daniel - Ch 10 (6.4.11)

Dan 10:1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a message was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar. The message was true, but the appointed time was long; and he understood the message, and had understanding of the vision.

Divine commentary –

“Then Daniel received a further message, 

                                     a message of truth, 

                                     a message for a distant time, 

                                     a message he understood, 

                                     a message with a vision.”

Dan 10:2 In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks.

Divine commentary –

“At that time he was mourning for the state of the city of Jerusalem, 

                         for the fullness of three sevens of days.”

Dan 10:3 I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.

Divine commentary –

“He took into his mouth no food that he liked, 

                                       no meat, 

                                       no wine; 

                                       no sweet oil of fragrance upon himself, 

                         till the fulfilment of the threefold seven days.”

Dan 10:4 Now on the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, that is, the Tigris,

Divine commentary –

“So Daniel was prepared, 

  so Daniel was positioned, 

  so Daniel stood before The Lord Most High.”

Dan 10:5 I lifted my eyes and looked, and behold, a certain man clothed in linen, whose waist was girded with gold of Uphaz!

Divine commentary –

“Daniel looked up and beheld a certain man clothed in fine white linen, 

                         whose waist was encircled by a band of gold of the highest purity.”

Dan 10:6 His body was like beryl**, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like torches of fire, his arms and feet like burnished bronze in colour, and the sound of his words like the voice of a multitude.

Divine commentary –

“His body was sustained by the testimonies** of the witnesses – 

                                                                                          each who had made a new beginning, 

  His face unimaginably bright, 

  His eyes on fire with The Spirit’s flame, 

  His arms and feet with the colour of burnished bronze imputing strength to bear and to stand, 

  His words carried the force of the convictions of the righteous, 

                                     the force of very many, 

                                     the force inherent in an overcomer.”

Dan 10:7 And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me did not see the vision; but a great terror fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.

Divine commentary –

“And it was to be that Daniel alone was present at the vision, 

                         for his companions received great terror, 

                                              so that they fled to hide themselves, 

                                              so that they were not witnesses to that which God did share.”

Dan 10:8 Therefore I was left alone when I saw this great vision, and no strength remained in me; for my vigour was turned to frailty in me, and I retained no strength.

Divine commentary –

“While Daniel remained alone in the presence of the vision of exceeding greatness, 

                                              his strength departed from him, 

                                              his vigour became as frailty, 

                                              his ability to stand was not maintained.”

Dan 10:9 Yet I heard the sound of his words; and while I heard the sound of his words I was in a deep sleep on my face, with my face to the ground.

Divine commentary –

“Yet Daniel heard His words, 

                         while anointed in The Holy Spirit’s presence, 

                                              while facedown on the ground.”

Dan 10:10 Suddenly, a hand touched me, which made me tremble on my knees and on the palms of my hands.

Divine commentary –

“Then was Daniel touched by a hand, 

                                                 a hand which caused his knees to shake, 

                                                             which caused his hands likewise to follow.”

Dan 10:11 And he said to me, "O Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you." While he was speaking this word to me, I stood trembling.

Divine commentary –

“Then He within the vision greeted Daniel, 

                                                               while he trembled, 

                                                               by name affirming him as a man greatly beloved. 

                                            Daniel was asked to understand the words spoken to him, 

                                                                         to stand upright before Him: 

                                                                                                            He who had been sent to him.”

Dan 10:12 Then he said to me, "Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.

Divine commentary –

“Then He within the vision told Daniel not to fear, 

                         for when he first sought to understand in humbleness before his God, 

                                            so his words were heard; 

                                            so does He attend because of them.”

Dan 10:13 "But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia.

Divine commentary –

“But a prince of darkness delayed this angel of The Lord – 

                                                                       a semblance of The Holy Spirit –  

             for threefold seven days; 

                         and Michael, 

                                    the archangel, 

                                               then came to assist: 

                                                         for this angel of The Lord had been left stranded – 

                                                                    without the covering of prayer – 

                                                                               whilst surrounded by the powers of darkness.”

Dan 10:14 "Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come."

Divine commentary –

“So the angel of The Lord told Daniel He had come to him to ensure his understanding, 

                         of that which will befall his people in the end-time of the latter days – 

                                               those which were many days in the future from the time of Daniel, 

                                               those to which the vision now refers, 

                                               those which surround the saints of God in this present time.”

Dan 10:15 When he had spoken such words to me, I turned my face toward the ground and became speechless.

Divine commentary –

“When Daniel heard such words, 

                         he turned his face downwards as he lost the power of speech.”

Dan 10:16 And suddenly, one having the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips; then I opened my mouth and spoke, saying to him who stood before me, "My lord, because of the vision my sorrows have overwhelmed me, and I have retained no strength.

Divine commentary –

“Then suddenly a semblance of The Holy Spirit touched Daniel’s lips, 

            and he regained the power of speech; 

                    so he confessed to his Lord who stood before him that it was because of the vision: 

                                                                                                     that his sadness had overwhelmed him, 

                                                                                                     that he had retained no strength.”

Dan 10:17 "For how can this servant of my lord talk with you, my lord? As for me, no strength remains in me now, nor is any breath left in me."

Dan 10:18 Then again, the one having the likeness of a man touched me and strengthened me.

Dan 10:19 And he said, "O man greatly beloved, fear not! Peace be to you; be strong, yes, be strong!" So when he spoke to me I was strengthened, and said, "Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me."

Dan 10:20 Then he said, "Do you know why I have come to you? And now I must return to fight with the prince of Persia; and when I have gone forth, indeed the prince of Greece will come.

Divine commentary –

“After Daniel was strengthened, 

                     he was asked whether he knew the reason for The Presence within the vision. 

            Then The Presence spoke of His need to recommence the battle – 

                                                               with a prince of darkness; 

                                               that after His going forth, 

                                                               a further power of darkness would come to join the conflict.”

Dan 10:21 "But I will tell you what is noted in the Scripture of Truth. (No one upholds me against these, except Michael your prince.

Divine commentary –

“But The Presence indicated to Daniel, 

                  He would tell him what was noted in the Scripture of Truth as He stated, 

                                                                                                                             in parting, 

                                               that no-one upholds Him against a prince of darkness, 

                                                               replete with his strongholds of darkness, 

                                               except the archangel Michael: 

                                                               who was known to Daniel as the chief ally in a battle.”
