Rev 20:1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Divine commentary –
“The angel of The Lord,
the semblance of God,
descends from heaven to the earth with the key to the pit,
with a great chain in hand.
As the picture completes,
so the content is.
As the picture actions,
so prophecy upholds.”
Rev 20:2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years;
“For the dragon,
is put in chains,
is in bondage,
for a thousand years,”
Rev 20:3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.
“is cast into the bottomless pit,
to be therein imprisoned,
to be so sealed therein,
that there be no more deception on the earth until his sentence is complete:
whereupon he is released on bail.”
Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
“And John sees thrones,
thrones which are occupied by those to whom judgment is committed.
Then John sees the souls as they are martyred for their witness to Jesus,
for their testimony to the word of God,
as they refuse to worship the beast or his image,
as they forgo his mark on their temples of The Spirit,
as they refute his claim to their temples with the altars set to the heart of God.
Such as they live and reign with Jesus,
for a thousand years.
‘This is the first resurrection.’”
Rev 20:5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
“As John records,
the rest of the dead do not live again until the completion of the thousand years.”
Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.
“John records the blessings on,
with the promises for,
those partaking in the first resurrection.”
Rev 20:7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison
“So Satan is released but for a season,
at the end of the age of redemption,
still eager to rejoin the battle for the soul of man.”
Rev 20:8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea.
“So Satan advances;
bringing deception upon all the nations who are in the four corners of the earth,
who extend beyond the land of centres,
who have influence in the four corners of the seas,
who have influence in the four corners of the air,
who have influence in the four corners of all space subject to a claim.
Gog and Magog,
as one supports the other,
so the others concur in unison,
as one develops the other,
so the others attain maturity,
as the dragon rears up,
so they all combine their battle lines which number beyond the simple counting of man.”
Rev 20:9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.
“They arise across the earth in the surrounding of the encampments of the saints,
in the surrounding of the city long beloved down through the centuries of man.
So fire descends from God out of heaven and devours them.”
Rev 20:10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
sees the last of his deceptions fall to the earth,
without dismissal of the saints of God,
without dismissal of the city of God,
without dismissal through the pitching of a battle without the clash of saints:
yet with dismissal where collusion brings total death.
in his guises,
is cast into the lake of fire and brimstone,
there to join the beast and his images,
together with the false prophet and those who sing within the chorus of assent.
So they are tormented eternally outside the bounds of time.
Outside the bounds of time the present is open to transmission through the portals of dimensions.”
Rev 20:11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.
“John sees the great white throne with The One who sits on it.
The One from whose face the bodies and the souls of the earth and of the heaven flee away,
yet find no place to hide.”
Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.
that which proceeds to judgment in justness and in truth –
before those summoned to attend at the presence of the great white throne –
where the freewill of man is equated with his deeds,
where the heart of man is equated with his speech,
where the actions of man are equated with his gain left at his grave,
where the books of record are equated with his actions of his body,
where the destiny of man is equated with his walking the crowded highway of his life.”
Rev 20:13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.
“So the dead are surrendered,
so the dead are judged –
as the works each speak of completion of an intent.
So Death gives up its bodies,
so Hades gives up its souls.”
Rev 20:14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
“So Death and Hades serve out the purpose for their being,
as empty they fulfill no further need:
so are they consigned to,
the lake of fire.
This is the second death –
that which separates,
the spirit from the body and the soul.”
Rev 20:15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
“And all those without an entry in The Lamb’s Book of Life are thrown into the lake of fire.”
