The Divine Commentary on The Book of Ezekiel - Ch 09 (26.10.11)

Eze 9:1   Then He called out in my hearing with a loud voice, saying, "Let those who have charge over the city draw near, each with a deadly weapon in his hand." 

Divine Commentary –

“My servants do not carry weapons which will harm the flesh of man,

                               do not carry weapons which will impact on the bones of man,

                               do not carry weapons which will take away the breath of man,

                               do not carry weapons which will be the cause of pain to man,

                               do not carry weapons which will bring harm from a distance to man,

                               do not carry weapons which will nullify the senses of man.”

Eze 9:2   And suddenly six men came from the direction of the upper gate, which faces north, each with his battle-ax in his hand. One man among them was clothed with linen and had a writer's inkhorn at his side. They went in and stood beside the bronze altar. 

Divine Commentary –

“My servants do not fret at what My angels do,

                               do not fret when under the instruction of My Spirit,

                               do not fret at the tasking of The Lord.”

Eze 9:3   Now the glory of the God of Israel had gone up from the cherub, where it had been, to the threshold of the temple. And He called to the man clothed with linen, who had the writer's inkhorn at his side; 

Divine Commentary –

“My servants bring to completion their tasks in righteousness,

                               bring to completion their tasks as they are set,

                               bring to completion their tasks as they are woven in their lives.”

Eze 9:4   and the LORD said to him, "Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it." 

Divine Commentary –

“My servants no longer serve if righteousness is lost,

                                                                  if sin encroaches across a frontier,

                                                                  if pride installs a grain of sand which festers.”

Eze 9:5   To the others He said in my hearing, "Go after him through the city and kill; do not let your eye spare, nor have any pity. 

Divine Commentary –

“My servants know the consequence of sin,

                               know the consequence of freewill in the grip of carnality run amok, 

                               know the consequence for a soul bathed in immorality.”

Eze 9:6   "Utterly slay old and young men, maidens and little children and women; but do not come near anyone on whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary." So they began with the elders who were before the temple. 

Divine Commentary –

“My servants know the mark of My Spirit,

                               know the utterance which satisfies a test,

                               know the truth when the evidence is on display,

                                                                                                             is laid upon a table:

                                                                                                                            as fruit for inspection,

                                                                                                              is carried as the gifts:

                                                                                                                            bestowed when they were sought.”

Eze 9:7   Then He said to them, "Defile the temple, and fill the courts with the slain. Go out!" And they went out and killed in the city. 

Divine Commentary –

“My servants know of a weapon which they carry,

                                                                        which stabs right to the heart yet does no damage,

                                                                        which convicts to tears yet does not pain the body,

                                             which circumcises blackness in all the chambers of a heart yet then welcomes the flooding of the light.”

Eze 9:8   So it was, that while they were killing them, I was left alone; and I fell on my face and cried out, and said, "Ah, Lord GOD! Will You destroy all the remnant of Israel in pouring out Your fury on Jerusalem?" 

Divine Commentary –

“My servants do not fear the drafting of The Lord,

                               do not fear as the wheat among the tares,

                               do not fear as the sheep among the goats.

My servants are elevated above the flood tide of irreverence which inundates the self-confessed –

                                                                                                     who know not the despair attached to that which they bear witness:

                                                                                                                                                                  both through their deeds and through their folly.”

Eze 9:9   Then He said to me, "The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of bloodshed, and the city full of perversity; for they say, 'The LORD has forsaken the land, and the LORD does not see!' 

Divine Commentary –

“My servants hear the voice of caring reassurance.

My servants also hear the shouts of bloodlust.

My servants also hear the cries of perversity.

My servants hear the accusations of indifference levelled at their God.”

Eze 9:10   "And as for Me also, My eye will neither spare, nor will I have pity, but I will recompense their deeds on their own head." 

Divine Commentary –

“So the servants of The Lord hear of the end results of sin,

                                                                            as each deed is allotted as arisen,

                                                                                     is allotted without mercy,

                                                                                     is allotted without exception,

                                                                                     is allotted each to its own head,

                                                                                     is allotted when grace is not invoked,

                                                                                     is allotted to the detriment of man.”

Eze 9:11   Just then, the man clothed with linen, who had the inkhorn at his side, reported back and said, "I have done as You commanded me."
