The Divine Commentary on The Book of Revelation - Ch 08 (30.12.10)

Rev 8:1 When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.

Divine Commentary –

“As the seventh seal is opened so the holiness of God pervades all of heaven,

so the holiness of God brings all to their knees,

so the holiness of God instils silence in the supplicant,

so the holiness of God attends the pleadings of supplication brought before His throne.”

Rev 8:2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets.

Divine Commentary –

“The seven angels before the throne each receive a trumpet to be sounded over all the earth.

For with the blast from each trumpet so the will of God goes forth –

with signs both in the heavens and the earth,

with calamities visited upon those who are not sealed into the family of God,

those who the destroying angel will not pass over,

those who neither know nor carry the emblem of The Spirit,

those who have not received the wisdom of the ages,

those who have not prepared for the coming of The King.

Such as them will run for shelter,

will scurry to the imagined sanctuary of caves,

will be tossed up to the high places where they will seek to cling.”

Rev 8:3 Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

Divine Commentary –

“The angel with the golden censer stands before the altar,

is about to receive the incense for ignition –

from the fire upon the altar,

sees the prayers of the saints before him on the altar,

knows all is nearly ready for the commencing of ascent.”

Rev 8:4 And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel's hand.

Divine Commentary –

“So the sweet fragrance of the incense,

                 given birth within the censer,

mingles with the rising prayers from the altar of The Lamb.

So the prayers of supplication are brought into the presence of the living God.”

Rev 8:5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.

Divine Commentary –

“As the angel makes known the will of God,

so the very fire of heaven,

as gathered from the altar of The Lamb,

is still subject to rejection by the inhabitants of the hearth.

So is the wrath of God invoked,

so the wrath of God deigns to fall upon the earth,

so the wrath of God selects the practisers of iniquity,

                                                              the liars of creation,

                                                              the rejectors of the sacrifice,

                                                              the breakers of their word,

                                                              the enslavers of the peoples,

the causers of the premature grieving of man.

So will the rumblings of God signify the coming of His wrath,

the exhausting of the time-frame for His grace,

                                                                                the chastisement of those who leave no time for God;

who God has so forewarned –

He is to leave no time for them.”

Rev 8:6 So the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

Divine Commentary –

“So are the voices of the seven trumpets about to shout at earth.

As each shout goes forth from heaven so will the earth rebound in shock;

                                                                                      so will the earth vibrate;

so will the earth succumb to devastation.

So will foreclosure on life within creation become an act of God;

So will the rejection of an offered destiny leave sin again in man –

                                                                                        as the slate of life can be no longer cleaned;

So will man be estranged from the presence of his God –

                                                                                        he does not desire to know;

So will the keys of heaven be placed upon the keyring –

to be hung out of the reach of man.”

Rev 8:7 The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.

Divine Commentary –

“So the forces which beset the earth hearken to the shout of the first angel,

so the forces clash as they consume,

so the blood borne of creation is scattered far and wide –

where it is no longer able to be accessed by a pump.”

Rev 8:8 Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood.

Divine Commentary –

“So goes forth the shout of the second angel,

so the great monument of man marks the downfall of man,

so the great monument of man falls in the terror of the day,

so the great monument of man is quenched within the harbour of the sea,

so the waters of the sea disperse the invasion of the blood.”

Rev 8:9 And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

Divine Commentary –

“As the blood of the great monument is dispersed:

so it is carried in the waves,

so will the living creatures die,

so will the vessels of the barricades be seen to founder before the eyes of man.”

Rev 8:10 Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water.

Divine Commentary –

“So the trumpet blast of the third angel reverberates.

The star is the angel of the great church.

He receives fire from heaven which flares in his time of falling,

and he falls on a third of the rivers of fresh water and also on the springs of fresh water.

The specified division of the rivers of fresh water is the measure of the impact on these new saints –

those affected by the fall who join while their faith is shallow –

and are carried by the depth of the channel’s flow,

by the current of the day,

by the surges of the night,

by the confines of the banks.

The springs of fresh water encompass all the new lambs of God –

all of whom are affected by the fall –

                                         who spring up by themselves,

who are fresh and lively in their nature,

who love to frolic in the pasture within the freedom of the son light.”

Rev 8:11 The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter.

Divine Commentary –

“The angel of the great church is so named because of bitterness found concealed within his robes,

because of his contamination of the waters on which he splashed his fall,

because of the embittering of those who formed the fresh waters of the rivers,

because of the significant embittering of those who formed the fresh waters of the springs.

As the fresh water becomes embittered by the fall from grace,

so do many men die upon the capturing of their spirits and the crushing of their souls –

                                                                                                                           as their faith is lost.”

Rev 8:12 Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.

Divine Commentary –

“A third is a measure of significance which is evident before the eyes of man.

A third denotes the absence of the trivial,

                                     the absence of majority,

                                                  the presence of  significance.

The sounding of the trumpet of the fourth angel brings significant darkening to affect the views of man –

                                                                                                          darkening of the sun,

                                                                                                                                     the moon,

                                                                                                                                     the stars,

                                                                                                                                     the day,

                                                                                                                                     the night.

Beware the smoke of man.

            Beware the smoke of God.

Beware of darkness laid before the eyes of man.”

Rev 8:13 And I looked, and I heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, "Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!"

Divine Commentary –

“As the angel flies and speaks so his words should not be taken lightly,

should not be read as being of little import,

should not be ignored within a broader picture.

For his words were seen as worthy to be proclaimed within the midst of heaven,

to be recorded for posterity within the vision seen and heard by John.

So is John not to be perceived as a waster of his effort,

as a waster of his parchment,

as a waster neither of his reader’s nor his listener’s time.”
