The Divine Commentary on The Book of Revelation - Ch 21 (24.2.11)

Rev 21:1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.

Divine Commentary –

“My beloved, John,

sees a new heaven and a new earth,

for the first heaven and the first earth pass away,

                                    so the other heavens were and are and be;

                                    so the sea,

                                                    that which divides,

that which is the measure of division,

                                                    that which separates,

                                                    that which engenders fear,

                                                                      engenders dismay,

                                                                      engenders misery,

passes away in company with the earth and its heaven.”

Rev 21:2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Divine Commentary –

“Then John sees the saints of God –

                                       as the holy city –

                                       as the New Jerusalem –

descending out of heaven from God,

prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”

Rev 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.

Divine Commentary –

“And John hears a loud voice from heaven proclaiming as it is recorded,

                                                                                         as it is stated,

                                                                                                so it is to be.

For behold,

the holy of holies is again with men,

and I am to dwell with them and they with Me,

and I am their God and they are My people.”

Rev 21:4 "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."

Divine Commentary –

“So God comforts as the record stands within His word,

so God banishes as the record stands within His word,

so God upholds as the record stands within His word.”

Rev 21:5 Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."

Divine Commentary –

“Then He who sits on the throne announces He makes all things new.

So He instructs John to write these:

His words of truth and of faithfulness for the guidance and the wisdom of all men.”

Rev 21:6 And He said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.

Divine Commentary –

“So the divine will is expressed,

so salvation is available as being freely offered,

                                         as being freely given,

                                         as being freely received.”

Rev 21:7 "He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.

Divine Commentary –

“So to the overcomer is the promise made,

so to the overcomer is the close relationship desired by God offered for establishment,

is the Fatherhood of God willing to accept him as His son.”

Rev 21:8 "But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

Divine Commentary –

“So the heart of man decides the destiny of man,

so the heart of man determines his actions of freewill,

so his actions of freewill are recorded in the books,

so the books stand in testimony of all which is outside the will of God.

For as God respects freewill so the destiny is determined.

It is wisdom for the foolish to discern in time,

                                            to discern with keen attention,

to discern in order to forsake their actions which would have their freewill put them outside the will of God:

to be counted among the lost within eternity.”

Rev 21:9 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, "Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife."

Divine Commentary –

“Then the semblance of The Holy Spirit came to John inviting him to come,

to view the bride of the Lamb.”

Rev 21:10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

Divine Commentary –

“And John was taken away in the Spirit to a position,

                                                                  of great and high authority,

from which the oversight of earth is viewed,

from which he sees the multitude of saints descending from God out of heaven:

as they constitute the great city –

the renewing of the being of the holy city of Jerusalem.”

Rev 21:11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.

Divine Commentary –

“So the multitude of the saints carry with them the glory of God,

radiate their purity where no imperfection dwells,

where nothing obscures the perfect will of God.”

Rev 21:12 Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:

Divine Commentary –

“So the saints are well and truly protected within the covering of God,

the defences are of exceeding width and height,

with twelve angels at the twelve points of entry and of egress:

which exist only through the inheritance of freedom arising from the twelve tribes of the children of Israel.”

Rev 21:13 three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.

Divine Commentary –

“So the points of entry are easily discovered,

are without a queue of any substance,

                                     are evenly spread,

are each as a drafting gate,

are where each angel knows the heart that passes unimpeded.”

Rev 21:14 Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Divine Commentary –

“So the defences of the saints of God are built upon the levy of protection erected by the twelve apostles with their calls from God,

upon the history of a coming,

upon the history of a going,

upon the history of a returning,

upon the history of the testimonies,

upon the promise of a second coming.

For as each within a history contributes,

so the levy of protection strengthens the surrounding of the saints.”

Rev 21:15 And he who talked with me had a gold reed to measure the city, its gates, and its wall.

Divine Commentary –

“The semblance of The Holy Spirit has a true and pure standard

                    which applies to the saints,

which applies to the portals for those who would pass through,

which applies to the defences so that they may stand in protection of the sheltered.”

Rev 21:16 The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs. Its length, breadth, and height are equal.

Divine Commentary –

“So the saints are of uniformity,

                       are of equality,

are in positions all of equal status,

are with freedom of movement without the need to jostle,

are where the boundaries of God are not a hindrance to the saints,

are where the standard of God is everywhere abounding.”

Rev 21:17 Then he measured its wall: one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel.

Divine Commentary –

“So the defences of the saints are secure within the wall of faith,

                                                                  within the wall of knowledge,

                                                                  within the wall of wisdom,

                                                                  within the firewall of God,

where the portals only yield their access to the lamb,

to the sheep who knows or seeks the shepherd.

          For as they seek,

           for as they knock,

so will the gate be opened as the portal to salvation,

so will the measure of a man be the measure of The Spirit as He welcomes all who seek through the gateways of The King of kings.”

Rev 21:18 The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass.

Divine Commentary –

“So the defences are without defect,

are constructed with clarity of content,

are as crystal when examined in any depth.

So the saints are greatly valued,

                                    are with purity of character,

                                                                 of conscience,

                                                                 of faith within freewill,

                                    are with purity of body,

                                                                 of soul,

                                                                 of spirit,

are as of clear glass as they transmit the will of God without impairment.”

Rev 21:19 The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald,

Divine Commentary –

“So the foundations of the defences of the saints build upon the precious things of God.

               So as they are declared,

                so are they made known,

                so is their time fulfilled.

The first is My word of ages,

the second is the faith of destiny,

the third is the sanctifying of the cross of blood,

the fourth is the grace of salvation,”

Rev 21:20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.

Divine Commentary –

“the fifth is the gifting of The Holy Spirit,

the sixth is the fullness of the new covenant,

the seventh is the springboard of the apostles,

the eighth is the testimonies of the witnesses,

the ninth is the holiness of the martyrs,

                                    the tenth is My provisioning,

the eleventh is My prophets close to My heart,

the twelfth is the honouring of My word.

So the defences of the saints build precept upon precept,

                                                                            line upon line,

                                    until all is complete,

until the wall is seen to stand as sufficient for the day,

as sufficient for the day of trial,

                                                                                         as sufficient for the overcomer,

until the wall is seen to stand within the majesty of God.”

Rev 21:21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.

Divine Commentary –

“The twelve gates are twelve sites of the wisdom of God,

are the twelve sites of the knowledge of God,

are the twelve sites where life begets faith begets knowledge begets wisdom begets access to The Throne,

are the twelve sites with the inheritance of Israel.

So the street is as the conduit of exceeding value without contamination,

is the media of enrichment which carries,

                                                                      with clarity of understanding,

                                                                                        the richness of the truth,

                                                                                        the richness of the knowledge,

                                                                                        the richness of the wisdom,

to and for and from the saints of God.”

Rev 21:22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.

Divine Commentary –

“So the city,

             which John sees –

the convocation of the saints of God –

has no need for a separate temple:

for The Lord God Almighty and The Lamb are instated as the divinity,

                                                                                          acclaimed in worship,

at the altars of the hearts of the saints.”

Rev 21:23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.

Divine Commentary –

“So the city –

the gathering of the saints of God –

has neither need for the sun nor the moon:

                            for its body,

                                  its spirit and its soul are of one in unity;

illuminated by the glory of God and by the light of The Lamb.”

Rev 21:24 And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honour into it.

Divine Commentary –

“The nations of those who know of their salvation walk in the light and the blessing of the saints;

as the kings of the earth tender their glory and honour unto the God of the saints.”

Rev 21:25 Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there).

Divine Commentary –

“ So each pearl,

        each site,

                  shares continuously without faltering,

                                                   the wisdom of God,

                                                   the knowledge of God,

                                                   the word of God,

where the life which seeks begets an entry to the pathway of salvation.”

Rev 21:26 And they shall bring the glory and the honour of the nations into it.

Divine Commentary –

“So the glory and the honour of the nations lie before them in tribute.”

Rev 21:27 But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.

Divine Commentary –

“So entry to the convocation of the saints is restricted only to those who are written in The Lamb’s Book of Life:

so contamination is excised from a life,

                             prior to entry being granted,

                                          by the name above all names;

so there is no defiling of the saints,

                                                                      no practising of any abomination,

                                                                      no uttering of a lie.”
