The Edifice of God (26.11.08)

“The edifice of man is constructed according to his will.

The edifice of man is built upon the sand.

The edifice of man stands but for a moment.

The edifice of man topples on command.

The edifice of man seeks but rejects the answer.

The edifice of man combines effort with lack of wisdom,

                                                wealth without assurance.

The edifice of man supplies appeasement without reward.

The edifice of man marks but does not honour.

The edifice of man denotes care without attention.

The edifice of man is garrulous without restraint.

The edifice of man has the ways of the blind.

The edifice of man composes falsehoods within the soul.

The edifice of man attends at deafened ears.

The edifice of man sacrifices without intent.

The edifice of man adopts without consent.

The edifice of man completes without approval.

The edifice of man complies without restriction,

                               goads without conviction.

When the edifice of man falls:

                                                   man becomes distraught,

                                                   man despairs of hope,

                                                   man seeks solace in silence,

                                                   man finds comfort in solitude.

The fall of the edifice of man brings despondency of the soul,

                                                                  the grieving of the heart,

                                                                  the recovery of the spirit.

The fall of the edifice of man speaks of a new beginning,

                                                                  of a restoration.

The fall of the edifice of man confuses the erectors of walls,

upholds the written word as sanctified,

precedes and heralds the foretold intent of God.

The intent of God has established the edifice of God.

The edifice of God is built upon the rock.

The edifice of God is constructed from the truth.

The edifice of God is for the benefit of man.

The edifice of God sustains the family of God.

The edifice of God boldly declares a welcome,

                               quietly whispers a rebuke.

The edifice of God comprehends each message from a heart.

The edifice of God supports the will of God.

The edifice of God calls to man to enter.

The edifice of God consumes the boundaries of man.

The edifice of God breaks down walls,

                               retakes the land,

takes captive the foe of man.

The edifice of God becomes the domicile of man –

                                              the residence of the graceful.

The edifice of God confirms certainty of purpose.

The edifice of God seeks out man,

                                calls out man,

                                singles out man.

The edifice of God greets man,

                                comforts man,

                                enfolds man,

                                instructs man,

                                loves man,

                                welcomes man.

The edifice of God is sensitive to the approach of man,

                                                      the awe of man,

                                                      the humbling of man,

                                                      the return of man,

                                                      the forgiveness of man,

                                                      the redemption of man –

that man may be at home within the edifice of God.”
