Rev 14:1 Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father's name written on their foreheads.
Divine Commentary –
“As John looks he sees The Son of God standing,
as it is written,
in the presence of the elders of Zion with His Father’s name,
written on their foreheads as the seal of The Holy Spirit.”
Rev 14:2 And I heard a voice from heaven, like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of loud thunder. And I heard the sound of harpists playing their harps.
“John hears the composite voice of heaven –
of the elders of Zion –
with strength and with power,
together with the harpists playing their harps of light.”
Rev 14:3 They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth.
“The elders of Zion sing a new song before the throne,
before the sentinels and the twenty-four elders.
A song reserved for the elders of Zion who are redeemed from the earth and carry the seal of God.”
Rev 14:4 These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.
“These are the elders of Zion,
the young men of maturity from youth,
the choristers of heaven,
the collective voice of the heavenly symphonia.”
Rev 14:5 And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God.
“So they are seen to be without fault,
are seen not to carry sin,
are seen with the fear of God.”
Rev 14:6 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth— to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people—
“So an angel in the midst of heaven,
supporting the everlasting gospel for preaching on the earth to every nation,
and people ”
Rev 14:7 saying with a loud voice, "Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water."
“Loudly proclaims the holiness of God,
the glorification of God,
the onset of His justice,
the worshipping of the Creator of man and all of which man is aware and is thereby endowed.”
Rev 14:8 And another angel followed, saying, "Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication."
“So a second angel follows,
saying as the record speaks.
The cities of idolatry,
the cities of hedonism,
the cities of lust,
the cities of addiction,
the cities of defilement,
the cities of perversion –
the cities of iniquity –
those great cities of the gatherings of the lost which seduce peoples of all nations to drink from each cup of gall –
the wine –
the end result –
of the wrath of their transgressions which are so entered on their records.
So shall they fall.
So shall they be brought low.
So shall they not stand in the days of accountability when the sharp-edged sickle swings within the harvest.”
Rev 14:9 Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand,
“So a third angel follows,
as John has recorded.
Woe to anyone worshipping Satan or his image,
who has his mark imprinted on what should be his temple:”
Rev 14:10 "he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.
“so he himself shall suffer the wrath of God in the fullness of strength,
in the fullness of measure,
in His fullness of indignation.
So will the cup of the wine of the wrath of God be both drawn and drunk.
As the consequences are written so they are to be,
so the witnesses are present.”
Rev 14:11 "And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name."
“So the consequences of satanic rituals,
of satanic worship,
of satanic idolatry,
fuel the fire of torment without a pause:
the eternal fire which feeds the plume of smoke.
Man should consider carefully his walk,
by which he may be qualified,
by which he may be marked,
as he strolls within the domain of Satan.”
Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
“So the saints of God should hearken to their Counsellor,
should prepare to meet the bridegroom,
should prepare their white linen with neither spot nor blemish,
should ensure they are not drafted into company which surprises.
So patience is required.
So integrity is required.
So faith is fully justified in The Name above all names.”
Rev 14:13 Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, "Write: 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.'" "Yes," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labours, and their works follow them."
“So John receives instructions,
so the record stands,
so it is to be believed.
For the adornments on each gown of life will testify of ‘what is’,
of ‘what is not’.
So will the wood,
straw not pass through the refiner’s fire.
So will the jewels of life,
when on a gown of life,
not receive a scorching on the journey through.”
Rev 14:14 Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud sat One like the Son of Man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle.
“So One like The Son of Man rises over the earth with His crown in place:
bearing in preparation,
the displaying of intent.”
Rev 14:15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, "Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe."
“Then the angel of The Lord,
the Holy Spirit from the temple of God,
comes forth crying aloud to Him sitting on the cloud,
‘Swing Your sickle for the reaping time is here;
the awaited harvest of the earth is now fully ripe.”
Rev 14:16 So He who sat on the cloud thrust in His sickle on the earth, and the earth was reaped.
“So are the saints gathered unto Him who sits upon the cloud,
so are they separated out from the fullness of the harvest,
so are they taken up unto the cloud on which He sits.”
Rev 14:17 Then another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.
“Then one of the seven angels who serve at the altar of The Lamb,
a semblance of The Holy Spirit,
comes forth prepared to reap the remainder of the harvest.”
Rev 14:18 And another angel came out from the altar, who had power over fire, and he cried with a loud cry to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, "Thrust in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for her grapes are fully ripe."
“A second angel,
with authority over fire,
then also comes forth from the altar.
again in the semblance of The Holy Spirit,
loudly cries out to Him who is so prepared to reap,
‘Swing, and gather in the clusters –
the enclaves of like-mindedness –
of mankind upon the earth:
for man of every nation,
and people –
is each now fully ripe in his iniquity.”
Rev 14:19 So the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
“So the angel of The Lord,
from the altar of The Lord,
swings His sickle into the harvesting of the vine of the earth –
the harvesting of the tares –
the harvesting of the weeds –
the harvesting of all of mankind in denial of the living God.
Hence and thus is the harvest committed as the vine is gathered;
as the angel throws the vine into the great winepress of the wrath of God.”
Rev 14:20 And the winepress was trampled outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress, up to the horses' bridles, for one thousand six hundred furlongs.
“So are the measurements of man not given lightly,
so are they for understanding,
so are they forming a pool of knowledge.
So should the dungeons within the heart of man be spoken to from the pool of knowledge.”
