The Arms of The Lord (21.8.09)

“The arms of The Lord reach out to enfold,

                                      reach out in love,

reach out to welcome the wanderers.

The arms of The Lord beckon to those tentatively approaching,

beckon to those who are hard of hearing,

beckon to those who are busy playing.

The arms of The Lord beckon to those immersed in work,

beckon to those immersed in mire,

beckon to those immersed in their denial.

The arms of The Lord strengthen the weak who seek support,

                                                      the bold who seek assurance,

the homeless who would have a home.

The arms of The Lord strengthen the lost who seek the truth,

the thinkers who would have the answer,

the knowledgeable who would crave the wisdom behind the purpose of their lives.

The arms of The Lord reach out to catch the blind before they stumble.

The arms of The Lord reach out to steady those uncertain of their steps,

those who falter with the goal in sight,

those who have nearly lost their way.

The arms of The Lord reach out to confirm His presence to a groping hand.

The arms of The Lord reach out with encouragement to the disheartened.

The arms of The Lord stretch down to uplift the prostrate who cannot move,

those who crawl on hands and knees,

those who are gasping and out of breath.

The arms of The Lord stretch down to uplift the repentant sinners,

                                                                        those with contrite hearts,

                                                                        those with humble spirits.

The arms of The Lord stretch down to uplift those who cry out to the Name above all Names.

The arms of The Lord stretch down to uplift those with the anguished cry of the downtrodden.

The healing arms of The Lord receive with tenderness those with a sickness of the soul,

those with a sickness of the spirit,

those with a sickness of the body.

The healing arms of The Lord receive with tenderness those maimed by life,

                                                                                        those insanely plagued by demons,

                                                                                        those crippled by disease.

The arms of The Lord wait to hug the finishers of the race.

The arms of The Lord wait to link arms with the dancers,

                                                                 with the singers,

                                                                 with those of merry hearts.

The arms of The Lord wait to link arms with the music makers,

                                                                         the tune keepers,

                                                                         the songsters of His flocks.

The arms of The Lord await to link arms in unity,

                                                                  in joyousness,

in greeting all who walk the way.

The arms of The Lord await the washing of the repentant –

the purifying of the saints –

                                              the cleansing of His bride.”
