Babylon and The Rise of Ashkelon (11.8.09)

“The fall of Babylon is the fall of papered wealth.

The fall of Babylon is the shattering of the empty money pots.

The fall of Babylon is the breaking of extended trust.

The fall of Babylon is as the overturning of the tables.

The fall of Babylon is in the presence of the money changers.

The fall of Babylon is as a temple in which they choose to worship –

an edifice of man they thought could never fall.

The fall of Babylon is when the few have squandered the wealth of many.

The fall of Babylon is when a single cry goes forth from a reservoir declaring “There is no money!”

The fall of Babylon is when the steel cages become empty and the despots run for caves.

The fall of Babylon is when contracts are repudiated,

is when beggars are able to survive,

is when revenge is sought for dreams destroyed,

is when ‘responsibility’ has long been a forgotten word on the lips of the unjust.

The fall of Babylon witnesses tremors of convulsion prior to the final throes of death.

The fall of Babylon sees the paper wealth of man blowing in the wind of change.

The fall of Babylon sees the paper wealth of man become of little worth –

that is left lying in the dust –

                                                         that is trampled underfoot –

that cannot purchase when placed within the hand –

that cannot be exchanged for anything of value.

The fall of Babylon is not an instant pile of bricks.

The fall of Babylon causes earthquakes of dissolution that rumble warning shouts upon ears that do not want to hear.

The fall of Babylon is only after the shoring up of foundations that gobble the reserves.

The fall of Babylon triggers the teetering of exchange in the nations of the world.

The fall of Babylon is complete when printing presses can no linger feed the maw of voracious greed;

                                                    when the widow’s mite is rendered worthless;

                                                    when starvation feeds upon itself;

when the rider on the pale horse careers where e’re he will.

The fall of Babylon brings the rise of Ashkelon.

Beware the rise of Ashkelon whose greed,

                                               whose corruption,

                                               whose harshest deeds,

will exceed those that brought the fall of Babylon.

Beware the rise of Ashkelon that shakes its head as it awakens from the slumber of the centuries.

Beware the rise of Ashkelon in the monopolizing of trade within the enclaves.

Beware the rise of Ashkelon that heralds the coming of the turmoil.

Ashkelon will not fall.

Ashkelon will order and control,

Ashkelon will have no mercy,

                will not help,

will watch and count the tribute while nations fall and wither.

Ashkelon has armies too numerous to count while the eye remains awake.

Ashkelon threatens and enforces,

withholds and then laughs in each face.

Ashkelon turns its back and reaps the body parts to the highest bidder.

Ashkelon has a history of barbaric cruelty,

will not yield to appeals for clemency,

will only yield to the greater force.

Ashkelon will bring ruin to its debtors,

will capture resources from behind the distant frontiers,

will navigate the earth in its quest for dominion of the seas and its conquest of the skies.

Ashkelon will reap where it has not sown,

                will garner and not replenish,

will lay waste without a care.

Ashkelon will seize without any reparation,

                will plunder as it pleases,

will offer none a recompense for the stripping of a landscape.

Ashkelon will be empowered by the nations of the earth,

will entrap the nations of the earth,

will subjugate the nations of the earth.

Beware the hand that seizes and will not release its grasp.

Beware the honeyed tongue and the fleecing contract.

Beware the armour that defies and the sandalled feet of peace.

Let those with wisdom understand the need for preparation with the passing of each day,

                                                                                                       the passing of each month,

                                                                                                       the passing of each year.

Let those with wisdom be informed.

Let those with wisdom seek wise counsel.

Let those with wisdom have a hedge that protects both day and night.”
