The Candles of The Lord (4.2.09)

“The fireworks of the earth fascinate the eyes of man.

The fireworks of the earth capture the imagination of man.

The fireworks of the earth keep man at abeyance.

The fireworks of the earth speak of a grand design,

                                           speak of a great furnace,

                                           speak of a great outpouring.

The fireworks of the earth intimidate with molten majesty,

                                           intimidate with plumes of spectacle,

intimidate with tongues that utter from within the depths of the earth.

The fireworks of the earth secrete the sweatings of the earth.

The fireworks of the earth escalate then fade.

The fireworks of the earth display with prior warnings.

The fireworks of the earth can be measured and assessed.

The fireworks of the earth are uncontrollable by man.

The fireworks of the earth hold man in their thrall.

The fireworks of the earth are spectacles of wonder,

                                           are testimonies of power,

are monuments to the sculptor that releases them from the earth.

The fireworks of the earth play and dance to a tune that they know well,

to an orchestrated cycle that ebbs and flows –

                                                                                          swelling by additions –

                                                                                    repelling all intrusions.

The fireworks of the earth simmer to an oft repeated chorus that bids no life approach,

                                                                                                that bids no life infringe,

that bids no life to dwell within allotted reservations.

The fireworks of the earth shout in announcement as with a crash of thunder,

withdraw into departure as with an exhausted sigh.

The fireworks of the earth mesmerize the wayward,

                                           give warning to the wise,

                                           provide warmth to the intrepid.

The fireworks of the earth are the candles of The Lord.

Man should not try to blow-out,

                                             to snuff,

to stand before the candles of The Lord.”
