The Pursuits of Man (7.12.11)

“The pursuits of man rarely are the pursuits of God.

The pursuits of man have no promise of success,

                                 have no promise of reward,

                                 have no promise of satisfaction,

                                 have no promise of completion,

have no promise of need fulfilment,

                                 have no promise of endurance.

The pursuits of man can be fixated on a goal,

                                 can target an achievement,

                                 can satisfy a longing,

can bring to pass a dream,

                                 can invite companionship,

                                 can augment a life.

The pursuits of man can be rewarding to his nature,

can be disappointing to his spirit.

The pursuits of man can experience great evil,

                                 can experience great good.

The pursuits of man can vary with the tuning of his character,

can vary with the impact of his parents,

can vary with the counsel of his god.

The pursuits of man are variable by day,

                                 are variable by night,

                                 are variable by endeavour,

                                 are variable by slothfulness,

                                 are variable by wealth,

                                 are variable by imagination.

The pursuits of man are limited by his environment,

                                 are limited by his successes,

                                 are limited by his failures.

The pursuits of man are not limited by God.

The pursuits of man are not limiting of his future.

The pursuits of man should not suffer procrastination.

The pursuits of man should attend to the decisions of the day.

The pursuits of man each carries a parachute to safety,

an escape clause of great dignity,

                                                     a remission process for mistakes.

The pursuits of man are the groundings in abilities,

                                 are the acknowledgments of effort,

are the stretching of the possibilities,

are the increasing of the probabilities,

are the journeys in the making,

are the contributors to the record of freewill.

The pursuits of man fulfil man’s aspirations,

                                 bring satisfaction to his soul,

uplift his spirit to new heights,

synchronize his body to his will.

The pursuits of man exchange ignorance for knowledge,

                                 supplant foolishness with wisdom,

                                 replace aimlessness with goals.

The pursuits of man can have eternal significance on his wellbeing,

can impose a stature which commands respect,

can result in status deserving of great honour.

The pursuits of man can leave him in the grip of Satan;

can exalt him in the heavens within the family of God.”
