The Divine Commentary on The Book of Revelation - Ch 17 (4.2.11)

Rev 17:1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, "Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters,

Divine Commentary –

“Then one of the seven semblances of The Holy Spirit,

           with the seven empty bowls,

                   comes and talks to John,

                              saying to him,

                                        ‘Come,

             I will show you the judgment of the great city of depravity which straddles,

                                                                                                                                               which has roots in,

                                                                                                                                                which feeds on,

                                                                                                                                 the peoples,

                                                                                                                                 the multitudes,

                                                                                                                                 the nations,

                                                                                                                                 and the tongues,”

Rev 17:2 "with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication."

Divine Commentary –

           “where the kings of the domains of man,

                    together with the overseers of commerce and of trade,

                                                                 construct cartels of all descriptions,

                             designs held within the darkness where secrets and oaths are deemed to be secure,

                    so to pillage and to seize in unison that to which they have no title of any credence which permits excessive gain.

             So the inhabitants of the earth rejoice at the spread of choice laid upon their tables,

                                                                                   rejoice at the availability on offer,

                                                                                   rejoice as they dig into their pockets to claim what their eyes do see –

                                                                                                                          bereft of their bargaining power –

                                                                                                             as prices are so fixed without restraint.’”

Rev 17:3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

Divine Commentary –

“So the emissary of The Holy Spirit takes John into a barren place.

             There,

                     John sees a city of commerce with a plenitude of people,

                               based on the character traits of a pre-eminent dragon –

                                        as previously recorded in My commentary relating to Rev 12:3, 13.1

                                                                                   with its seven heads and ten horns with crowns,

                                                                                                      as therein described.”

Rev 17:4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.

Divine Commentary –

“And John sees the city is very wealthy,

             a leader within its class –

                           within its sphere of operation,

             adorned with all the trappings of great wealth,

                      and advertising openly the means of its success,

                             promoting for all to see:

                                        the basis on which its wealth is built.”

Rev 17:5 And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

Divine Commentary –

“So the city is known before the world as the centre of conspiracies,

                                                                  an example to the world which considers bigger being best,

                                                                  the birthplace of the franchise and the clone,

                                                                  the generator of the infestations seen spreading across the earth,

                                                                  the centre which syphons off the wealth of man.”

Rev 17:6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marvelled with great amazement.

Divine Commentary –

“John sees this city surrounded in,

                                bathed in,

                 the blood of injured saints –

                            My followers;

                                    together with My martyrs –

                                               those who remain faithful unto death and live for evermore.

And John,

             when he sees the scene before his eyes,

                            as presented by The Spirit,

                                       marvels with great amazement:

                                                    that the city could be dressed in such finery and wealth.”

Rev 17:7 But the angel said to me, "Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.

Divine Commentary –

“As the emissary of the Holy Spirit asks,

              so he discloses a mystery of God.”

Rev 17:8 "The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

Divine Commentary –

“So John is told the beast,

            Satan,

                    who was in heaven and is not there now,

            is to ascend out of the bottomless pit and to be sent to hell as his final destiny.

And those who dwell on the earth:

        those whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world,

                            marvel at the wealth and riches and the display of the power;

                            cross frontiers to attain them;

                            cross against the will of man to share,

                                                                           to join,

                                                                           to so participate in;

                                                                                            the lifestyle of the city –

                                                                                            the conurbation of the beast –

                                                        he who yet is free to exercise dominion upon the earth of man.”

Rev 17:9 "Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits.

Divine Commentary –

“So the seven heads are seen as seven mountains expressing the vulnerabilities of man on which the city squats and thrives.”

Rev 17:10 "There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time.

Divine Commentary –

“The seven kings,

              mentioned here to John,

                        come and go in time,

                        experience their days of grandeur together with their days of loss,

                        know the morning of the birthing of their power together with the evening on which it enters in decline.

So the kings of prominence come as a starburst in the night,

 so they depart as a candle behind the shutters in the day.

So they persevere with the handiworks of Satan;

                   believe his promises of promotion;

                   seek a kingdom via an oath;

                   obtain a kingdom through a stranglehold on man;

                   hold a kingdom –

                                        of agony to man –

                             whose killing fields are under the blood-oath to the beast.

So the seven kings:

                   are replaced in time,

                               each attends to the monitoring of his kingdom built on a vice of man in which his kingdom rules;

                               each seeks to enlarge his kingdom with the strategies of the beast in hiding.

                               Each seeks to absorb the other in a battle without honour.

So the seven kings acquire their headships each by the adoption of one of the sevenfold satanic spirits,

                                                                                                                                                                     the sevenfold satanic angels:

                                                                                                                                                                 of the beast at large.”

Rev 17:11 "The beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition.

Divine Commentary –

“The beast,

             Satan,

                    that was in heaven and is no longer there,

             is himself the eighth in sequence and so the last becomes the first:

                              as of the seven kings –

                                       those which are his similitudes.

             The beast is destined for hell.”

Rev 17:12 "The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast.

Divine Commentary –

“As John is advised so My commentary upholds as with the previous referral.

           So the gatekeepers are now installed within the ten strongholds of man,

                                                                       each on his chair of mastery,

                                                                       each with his crown of glitter.

           So evil is now directed through greater force of circumstance.

           So evil is given voice as a king surmounts his kingdom.

           So evil screams above the rooftops with its gale which attacks antennae.

           So evil invades the home and life of man.

           So evil brings its odour of decay.

           So evil is seen before the family.

           So evil seeks to hack into the body,

                                                          the spirit and the soul.

           Beware of the giving of authority;

                                         as the programmes churn in beastly partnership:

                                                                         each for its allotted time before the face of man.”

Rev 17:13 "These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.

Divine Commentary –

“So as their minds do meld in unison,

  so they amplify their power and authority.

  So they enhance the power,

                                  the authority:

                                  the outreach of the beast.”

Rev 17:14 "These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful."

Divine Commentary –

“So they war with The Lamb as He goes out on His white horse with an empty quiver and a bow.

            For He is Lord of lords and King of kings;

                      and those who join Him,

                                                    as His arrows,

                      on a horse-ride of a lifetime,

                                                    are called,

                                                    are chosen,

                                                    are faithful.”

Rev 17:15 Then he said to me, "The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.

Divine Commentary –

“So the semblance of The Holy Spirit continues speaking to John,

              telling him the waters,

                                    on which the harlot –

                                                    the great city of depravity –

                                    sits,

                                           signify the basal relationships established with all peoples,

                                                                                                                           multitudes,

                                                                                                                           nations,

                                                                                                                           and tongues.”

Rev 17:16 "And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire.

Divine Commentary –

“And the ten kings with their kingdoms,

               come to hate the great city of depravity over which they have no control,

                                                                              so it is attacked,

                                                                              so it is looted and plundered,

                                                                              so its wealth is taken,

                                                                              so its remains are given to the torch.”

Rev 17:17 "For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled.

Divine Commentary –

“So God has put it into their hearts in order to fulfill His purpose –

                                                        to be of one mind;

                                                        to give their kingdoms to the beast:

                until the words of God are fulfilled.”

Rev 17:18

"And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth."

Divine Commentary –

“So the city can change identities as the timed sands flow through the glass of measure.

  So the city changes as Satan moves his throne.

  So the great city prospers as man gives his support to Satan.

  So the woman of depravity,

                                         dressed in all her worldly wealth,

                            supports the throne of Satan;

                            gathers the jewels of blood to lay around her throat in the presence of the kings.

With wisdom,

            man should discern the most evil city in the world,

                                          for there lies the throne of Satan,

                                          for from there does corruption spread,

                                          for from there does the mill of depravity grind integrity into the dust,

                                          for from there is the lewdness,

                                                                          the lust,

                                                                          the wickedness of man dispersed to sate the nations.”
